Market measures help to ensure the sufficiency of food, the diversity of agricultural products and their continuous flow in the market while at the same time making agricultural products affordable and making it easier for European citizens to obtain them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second pillar of the CAP contributes to the strengthening of Europe&#8217;s rural areas inhabited by 20% of the EU population. According to the latest census in Cyprus in 2011, 31% of the total population lives in the rural areas of the island. So this financial aid benefits the people living in rural areas, whether they have farms or not.
