DESCRIPTION: Η 12η Μαΐου κάθε έτους έχει θεσμοθετηθεί από τη Γενική Συνέλευση των Ηνωμένων Εθνών ως η Διεθνής Ημέρα Υγείας των Φυτών. Σκοπός είναι η ανάδειξη της συμβολής που ο καθένας από εμάς μπορεί να έχει στη διατήρηση της υγείας των φυτών. Για τον εορτασμό της Διεθνούς Ημέρας Υγείας των Φυτών διοργανώνεται εκδήλωση από το Εθνικό Αγροτικό Δίκτυο Κύπρου\, την Κυριακή 12 Μαΐου 2024 στο Εθνικό Δασικό Πάρκο Αθαλάσσας (Νοτιοδυτική είσοδος). Η εκδήλωση θα λάβει χώρα από τις 10:00 π.μ. μέχρι και τις 3:00 μ.μ. και θα περιλαμβάνει δραστηριότητες για τους μικρούς μας φίλους\, όπως ζωγραφική και φύτευση κυπριακών φυτών σε γλάστρες.

Μία υπαίθρια αγορά που μας θυμίζει κάτι από τις παλιές λαϊκές αγορές που οργανώνονταν σε διάφορες περιοχές του νησιού. Εκεί\, θα βρείτε φρέσκα προϊόντα\, φρούτα και λαχανικά από ντόπιους παραγωγούς\, παραδοσιακά προϊόντα της περιοχής όπως μέλι\, παξιμάδια\, αρτοποιήματα και πολλά άλλα ποιοτικά εδέσματα του τόπου μας. \nΗ Τοπική Αγορά Παραγωγών Λάρνακας επιστρέφει την Κυριακή 10 Μαρτίου στον υπαίθριο χώρο δίπλα από το οίκημα του Συλλόγου Γυναικών Υπαίθρου Λάρνακας στο χωριό Άγιος Θεόδωρος. Η αγορά στις 11:00 θα φιλοξενήσει την αγαπημένη τηλεμαγείρισσα Χρύσω Λέφου η οποία θα μας φτιάξει λουκουμάδες που θα προσφέρονται στο κοινό. \nΠαράλληλα\, από τις 11:00 μέχρι τις 13:00 ο ξυλόφουρνος που θα βρίσκεται εκεί θα ψήνει νόστιμες ελιωτές και χαλλουμωτές που θα φτιάχνονται επί τόπου στο εργαστήρι ζυμώματος που θα πραγματοποιηθεί. Ακόμη τα παιδιά θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να συμμετέχουν σε ένα ευχάριστο εργαστήρι με τίτλο “Φτιάχνουμε σπιτική μανταρινάδα” όπου θα μάθουν όλα τα μυστικά για τα εσπεριδοειδή και πώς να παρασκευάσουν αυτό το ωραίο ρόφημα σε σκουός.

SUMMARY:Taking action to tackle rural depopulation
DESCRIPTION:Many rural areas in Europe are experiencing a long-term reduction of their population\, particularly those in working age (20-64 years old) and youth (less than 20 years old)\, according to the recent  report from Eurostat. This trend has serious consequences for both urban and rural areas through the exacerbation of socioeconomic disparities across regions. The ENRD[1] Rural Voices report in 2020 indicates that areas with declining populations are experiencing needs for viable public infrastructures and services\, diversified income sources and decent jobs\, as basic conditions for maintaining population. \nThe diagnosis is clear\, and it is time for action. In 2021\, the ENRD Thematic Group on rural revitalisation identified key enabling factors to address depopulation\, emphasising the need to put in place an integrated rural policy framework involving all policies and funds as well as to offer flexible support to local communities to act. \nThe long-term vision for EU’s rural areas\, including the Rural Pact have the ambition to support the revitalisation of rural areas suffering from depopulation so that\, by 2040\, they are stronger\, more connected\, resilient and prosperous. In this respect\, the European Commission is launching the rural revitalisation platform\, a one-stop shop for rural communities\, rural project holders and local authorities alike to connect\, collaborate and get informed. \nThis Policy Action Lab is the launch event of the rural revitalisation platform. The proposed Nature Restoration RegulationSearch for available translations of the preceding linkEN••• also targets the maintenance and creation of landscape features\, such as “buffer strips\, rotational or non-rotational fallow land\, hedgerows\, individual or groups of trees\, tree rows\, field margins\, patches\, ditches\, streams\, small wetlands\, terraces\, cairns\, stonewalls\, small ponds and cultural features”. \nThe CAP Strategic Plans will be a key tool to promote improved maintenance and creation of landscape features in agricultural landscapes through conditionality (Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition (GAEC) 8) and additional funding within eco-schemes under Pillar 1 and EAFRD-funded agri-environment-climate measures under Pillar 2 targeting various landscape features. \nThis first meeting of the Thematic Group on Landscape Features and BiodiversitySearch for available translations of the preceding linkEN••• will focus on sharing examples of European good practices and promising approaches to encourage landscape features\, discussing how these can be better supported using various interventions under the CAP and what the key enablers and barriers are to doing this. \nAims of the meeting \n\nTo explore how greater maintenance\, restoration and creation of landscape features can be achieved via the CAP through the identification of the key enabling conditions that must be in place.\nTo identify ways in which the range of CAP interventions can be used to support different types of landscape features and what other support is required to promote more diversity and higher-quality landscape features for biodiversity and ecosystem services.\nShare experiences and lessons learnt from Member States’ previous programming period supporting landscape features and discuss how these may inform approaches under the CSPs.

DESCRIPTION:The launch of the EU CAP Network will take place on Thursday\, 6 October 2022 in Brussels. The EU CAP Network will serve as a platform for knowledge and information exchange\, for peer-to-peer learning\, and for sharing experiences and good practices in the implementation of the CAP. It will bring under one single EU-level network current stakeholders covering innovation\, implementation and evaluation\, and also involve new ones. \nThis event will be built around interactive sessions and other  activities\, including the Rural Inspiration Awards 2022Search for available translations of the preceding linkEN••• Ceremony. Participants will be invited to join different workshops on implementation\, innovation\, evaluation and communication. A fringe area is open for stakeholders to hold their own sessions.
