SUMMARY:The 2nd European Carbon Farming Summit
DESCRIPTION:The 2nd European Carbon Farming Summit will be held in Dublin\, Ireland\, from 4–6 March 2025. \n\n\n\n\n04 Mar 2025\, 09:00 – 06 Mar 2025\, 17:00 CET\n\nEnglish\nDublin Castle – Dublin\, Ireland\nHybrid\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 1st European Carbon Farming Summit took place in March 2024 in Valencia\, Spain\, and successfully gathered over six hundred participants\, predominantly from the many organisations involved in identifying practices and developing monitoring methods\, and engaged in the design of certification activities. \nSeveral outcomes were already delivered\, but this was only a first step. Under the Credible project\, two other summits are to come\, in 2025 and 2026. The second summit will take place in Dublin\, Ireland\, from 4–6 March 2025\, and for this summit\, we aim to be truly multi-stakeholder. We want to hear the voices of the farmers and businesses who have a critical role to play in the implementation of carbon farming practices and associated certificates. \nThe feedback received after the first summit is that the second summit needs to focus more on the practicalities of carbon farming: how to access information on practices\, what benefits are expected and in which time frame (in both economic and environmental terms)\, how to access certificates\, and who could purchase these certificates and under which conditions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn addition\, building on the results of the first summit\, we wish to further explore how carbon farming can be a tool for transformation in the field of agriculture\, but also for forestry and peatland rewetting. \nWe also intend to support the development of the EU CRCF by collecting feedback on the early drafts of the certification methodologies for agriculture\, forestry\, and peatland rewetting that will be available\, and provide suggestions to the work of the Commission’s Expert Group on Carbon Removals. \nWe foresee that\, given the expected increased participation by stakeholders\, the second summit will host several sessions led by Credible’s Focus Groups\, as well as external organisations\, which will be instrumental in answering key questions\, providing recommendations\, and achieving the identified objectives. \nBuilding on the current momentum on carbon farming in Europe and beyond\, and on the outcomes of the first summit\, the main goals of the second summit are as follows: \n\nOperationalising carbon farming: concrete solutions that raise interest and mobilise stakeholders\, both from the demand and supply side of carbon claims;\nPromoting carbon farming as a tool for transformation: sustainability requirements and indicators to move beyond carbon and foster resilient food systems;\nEnabling multi-actor dialogues: build momentum and trust among farmers\, scientists\, policymakers\, civil society and industry;\nSupporting the Carbon Removal Certification Framework: standards\, methodologies and monitoring tools to favour a conducive policy environment.

SUMMARY:EU Young Farmers Leadership Programme - Third edition
DESCRIPTION:The EU Young Farmers Leadership Programme empowers young farmers leaders through training\, networking\, and advocacy. \nSince 2023\, the European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA) has held its own capacity-building programme for young farmers across Europe\, with the aim of training the next generation of agricultural leaders in the skills of today and tomorrow. \nThe EU Young Farmers Leadership Programme is an annual three-day capacity-building initiative for leaders of young farmers’ organisations\, empowering those organisations through the empowerment of individuals\, showcasing the work of CEJA to national leaders and\, ultimately\, facilitating the visibility of their organisations. This leadership programme will last for three days and will be held in Brussels\, at the EU CAP Network premises. It will include approximately 50 participants sent from CEJA’s Member Organisations and additional guest organisations (i.e.\, young farmers’ organisations established in EU candidate countries\, non-members with whom CEJA has contact)\, the selection of whom will be based on diversity rules\, including geographical balance and gender balance. The theme of this third edition in 2025 will be ‘Future-proof strategies for generational renewal’. \nThe programme will have training modules for both organisational and individual skills (e.g. public speaking\, being more outspoken and self-confident)\, incorporation of networking elements\, and spaces for participants to discuss together on pre-identified topics. \nParticipants will receive a Youthpass certificate at the end of the training! \nWhat will be in the third edition?\n\n\nTraining sessions: Sessions on organisational and individual skills\, advocacy\, public speaking\, and much more!\nInspirational moments: Inspiring conversations with leaders in agriculture\, EU institutions and experts.\nNetworking activities: Among the participants\, speakers\, and other relevant EU actors.

DESCRIPTION:Invitation to Workshop “Advancing Berry Breeding: From Phenotyping to Genomic Innovation” & Demonstration visit to C.I.V. on April 2-4\, 2025 in Ancona (Italy) \n\n\n\nIf you are interested in learning more about the BreedingValue project results\, the project consortium invites you to its final Workshop “Advancing Berry Breeding: From Phenotyping to Genomic Innovation”. \nDuring the workshop\, results from the genotyping and phenotyping activities\, as well as the consumer study perspective of the Horizon 2020 project BreedingValue\, will be presented. A roundtable discussion encouraging reflection on how we can apply genomic tools in plant breeding\, involving experts from the BreedingValue consortium as well as external experts\, will be part of the workshop programme. \nThe workshop will take place on April 2-3\, 2025 at the Marche Polytechnic University\, Department of Agricultural\, Food and Environmental Sciences\, in Ancona (IT). On 26 June 2025\, best-practice examples of professional support through advice\, training and innovation projects will be discussed in workshops\, and approaches to further developing the role of advice in various policy and thematic areas will be developed.
