The online meeting, held on 5–6 February 2025 (mornings), will use the experience gained under LIFE projects to showcase and explore innovative funding mechanisms, including private sector contributions, for nature conservation and restoration.
The Networking meeting on LIFE and innovative funding for nature will convene policymakers, LIFE project representatives, and stakeholders from the public and private sectors to discuss funding strategies for nature conservation.
The event will spotlight examples of innovative sources of funding other than public grants, such as philanthropy, corporate contributions, and biodiversity credits, drawing on experiences from current and past LIFE projects.
Through case studies and panel discussion sessions, participants will explore the barriers, opportunities, and future potential of innovative funding sources. The meeting will aim to identify high-value approaches for mobilising additional funding sources to complement public grants and achieve the EU Nature Restoration Law’s ambitious targets.
